Lady MacBeth

In great Literature, Authors to develop their characters through examples in the text, instead of just stating their traits. Writers do this so that the reader feels closer to the characters and so that the character seems realistic. In William Shakespeare's MacBeth, Shakespeare does a great job of establishing Lady MacBeth, one of the main characters, by demonstrating how she is ruthless, deceiving, and is devoid of a conscience.

"I have given suck, and know how tender 'tis to love the babe that milks me. I would, while it was smiling in my face, have plucked my nipple from his boneless gums and dashed the brains out, had I so sworn as you have done to this." (Act 1. sc.7, Lines 6-67) These harsh words, uttered by Lady MacBeth are a true example of her ruthlessness. MacBeth, the husband of Lady MacBeth, had just announced to her that he had decided not to follow through with their previous plan. Which was to slay Duncan. An outraged Lady MacBeth responds by speaking those words, which reveal her true, cruel nature.

Another passage in the book, which manifests a quality of Lady MacBeth's character, occurs in Act 1, sc.6 (Lines 7-78) where she speaks these words, "Your face, my thane, is as a book where men may read strange matters. To beguile the time, look like the time. Bear welcome in your eye, your hand, your tongue. Look like th' innocent flower, but be the serpent under 't." In this part of the book, King Duncan, whom MacBeth is supposed to murder, is coming to visit MacBeth's home. Lady MacBeth speaks to MacBeth, telling him to "look like th' innocent flower but be the serpent under 't." She is telling him that they need to put on a false front so that they can trick the king into believing that their intentions are good. This is just one of the many examples of how Lady MacBeth is two-faced and has an extremely deceptive nature.

Later in MacBeth, shortly after the king was slain by MacBeth's own hands, Lady MacBeth demonstrates another one of her unbecoming characteristics; she has no conscience. "My hands are of your color, but I shame to wear a heart so white." (Act . sc., Lines 8-8) Duncan has just been slain, and Lady MacBeth feels no guilt or remorse. She states that although her hands also are red with the king's blood, her heart is still white. She does not care about the horrible act that has just been committed. She saw it as something that was necessary and thinks little about the significance of what they've just done. Clearly proving that her character has no conscience.

Developing characters through examples from the text, instead of stating a character's traits, adds much to the story. Making it more interesting and entertaining. In William Shakespeare's MacBeth, Shakespeare develops his characters through their words and deeds, thus allowing the reader to come to their own conclusion about the nature of them. During the latter half of the fifteenth century was a time when the Europeans

had great intellectual discoveries. However, this time might not have

been so amazing had Johannes Gutenberg not invented the printing press in

Write my Essay on History of cardano for me

1450. With the printing press now available, many books were published

and Universities like Bologna, Paris, and Oxford became places for great

education. These were not only times for mathematical improvement but

also artistic careers blossomed.

Summa de Arithmetica was produced by Luca Pacioli. He stressed the

solving of linear and quadratic equations. This book was great because it

was one of the first steps toward the type of arithmetic that we use

today. Pacioli was great with arithmetic but when he came across trying

to solve the cubic he could not do it and said it was impossible. Later,

in the late 1400's, a man by the name of Scipione del Ferro took the

challenge of proving Pacioli wrong.

Ferros first did something quite interesting when he turned the standard

cubic equation (x^+mx=n) into a "depressed cubic" (ax^+cx+d=0). This

step was very important and so Ferro chose to keep his findings an

absolute secret. He chose to do this because he could use the depressed

cubics in scholarly battle and assure himself victory. It wasn't until

Ferro almost met his death that he passed on his solution. The lucky boy

was Antonio Fior.

With his new knowledge Fior challenged Fontana, a.k.a Tartaglia, in 155. Right before the deadline Tartaglia figured out how to solve depressed cubics and made Fior look like a fool. Shortly after this a fruity man named Gerolamo Cardano entered the game of Xtreme math. He desired to learn much more about cubics from Tartaglia.

Cardano made such great contributions to the world that he felt he needed a biography written about himself and who better to do the job than Cardano! Once he was done with this thrilling story Cardano began to pratice medicine in Sacco. Here he indulged in gambling and even wrote a book on games of chance. Even with all these other activities going on, Cardano managed to become the greatest doctor in Europe. Geralomo Cardano had become a fabulous man. However, his son didn't exactly follow his father's footsteps. In the 1550's, Giambattista killed his wife and was beheaded in 1560. In fact, Geralomo somewhat took after his son. In 1570 he was sent to jail on charges of heresy. Just years after he got out of jail, Cardano died in 1576.

Now, back to the proof. Cardano wrote many letters to Tartaglia asking him for the solution to the cubic; all of these were rejected. It wasn't until 15 that Tartaglia revealed his knowledge to Cardano.

Ludovico Ferrari became Cardano's slave and friend in the 150's. Together they worked to solve advanced depressed cubics and made great progress. They discovered the solution for the quartic polynomial equation. Later they traveled to Bologna and read some of del Ferros' solutions to the cubic and got exactly what they needed to create the great theorem. Oh yeah, they took Tartaglia's goods and played him like a fool to create this theorem.

Animals have roamed the earth centuries before man had evolved. They live in various places on the Earth and are many benefits to our environment. However, there are some people around the world that like to exploit animals for their individual gain. It is important to know that these types of people don't understand the idea that animals were on the Earth first.

Jane Goodall is an anthropologist who studied the cognitive abilities of chimpanzees and their behavior in the mid-sixties. Upon her conclusions, she found that chimpanzees are quite smart and logical animals. As she began to write here books, Jane started referring to the animals as "he" or "she". Once this was reported, the human officials became outraged. The reason for this was back then they believed that animals had no brain or intelligence that a human would have. Jane continued to write about these animals regardless of what people thought. From here, she began to fight the idea that humans are superior to animals. Today, Jan tries to show people around the world that animals, especially chimpanzees, are very similar to human mind. She also proves that animals should have protection from exploitation and harm from other smart creatures.

We, as humans, don't understand the danger that we put animals in. We tend to shoot animals for sport, kill for food, and even capture them to perform research on them. I find it wrong to take innocent animals and have them experimented on to only help us. It is not fair that they have to be the ones, who are mutilated, brutally effected by chemicals, and killed for the benefit of one sole species. A solution to this problem would be to start experimenting on ourselves and see how we would feel. Also, each year, we tare down many natural rain forests. Among with the destruction of these forests go the lives of many exotic creatures. Every time we do this, we are not only harming them, but we are harming ourselves. Scientists and researchers report that in these rain forests, cures can be found to battle our illnesses and diseases. If we continue to destroy the homes of innocent animals not only will we be killing them but also ourselves. It is also important to think about why we have animal distinction between species today. The reason being is the destruction of their homes and the killing of them for fun. It is important to know that animals are allowed their equal rights regardless to their size, shape, and type.

From the pre-historic dinosaurs to the common house cat, all animals should have basic rights in order to survive in their natural habitat. It is very important to understand that we too are animals. We should respect all the animals on the earth regardless of their stature or type. We should also live in harmony and learn from them by safe and beneficial means.

It is evident that Phyllis Wheatley has a fire to write and express herself through her poetry, and seeks guidance and redemption through her faith.

The nature in which Phyllis Wheatley became a renowned poet is beneficial to know when reading her poetry. Because the Bible was probably the first book Phyllis encountered, it is no surprise that her faith in God is relished throughout her writings in Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral by Phyllis Wheatley, Negro Servant to Mr. John Wheatley, of Boston, in New England. The biography of Phyllis Wheatley says, "Responding to early indications of intellectual precociousness in Phyllis, the Wheatley family encouraged her to study the Bible and to read English and Latin literature, history, and geography." The poem On Imagination displays Phyllis's faith in God. Line 1-4 reads "For favours past, great Sir, our thanks are due, and thee we ask thy favours to renew, since in thy pow'r, as in thy will before, to soothe the griefs, which thou did'st once deplore." Another example in lines1-14 in To the University of Cambridge in New-England reads " How Jesus' blood for your redemption flows. See him with hands out-stretcht upon the cross Immense compassion in his bosom glows…" Phyllis' faith is flagrant when reading such poems as the latter. It seems as though Phyllis's masters were supportive in her writings, and she continued to encompass a fire for writing poetry. She was allowed through Master John Wheatley to publicize an elegy on the death of a popular Methodist evangelist, in which she gained her first fame as a poet. She later went on to publish her poems in England, and was also baptized during her stay. Many of her poems show that she has a desire to write in elegant style, as did the Greek poet Virgil. For instance, line 5 of To Maecenas, "…soon the same beauties should my mind adorn, and the same ardors in my soul should burn then should my song in bolder notes arise, and all my numbers pleasingly surprise…" As these lines indicate, Phyllis had a passion to write well as a poet and surprise her white peers. Phyllis also contested to slavery in many instances. In To Maecenas, she writes "But, I less happy, cannot raise the song, the fault'ring music dies upon my tongue." She contests that as a slave she cannot be happy and sing, and she doubts her voice would be heard. Again in the poem On Imagination, lines 4-1, Phyllis expresses her hatred of slavery, and hopes condemnation of slavery continues.

Phyllis Wheatley expressed her faith as well as her fire for writing poetry in her works. She also showed resistance to slavery, and a pattern of religion in her poetry. The theme Faith and Fire precisely describes Phyllis Wheatley's works, which reveal her faith in God and her fire for writing poetry.

China has a lot of promises to honor after entry the WTO, such as lowering the tariff level, canceling 400 import quotas, and allowing foreign companies investing into our telecommunications, banking, insurance, and tourism sectors. The Chinese government will also relieve the red tap for both the Chinese and foreign companies to do business in China.

The first challenge is the sharp competition brought by the foreign companies. Lowering tariff level, reducing quota, and relieving red tape means domestic companies lose the price superiority. Enormous amount of foreign companies will flow into Chinese market. Many famous big companies with good reputation and long history provide high level of services and products with lower price. They are consumer ¨C oriented and have rich experiences on marketing and advanced technology. They are sensitive to changing and very creative. Our domestic consumers will benefit from the competition, but many national companies are under the threaten of being eliminated from the market if they can not keep up with the latest technology to lower costs and provide the same level of services and products.

The second challenge is that our state-owned enterprises are still weak and poor ¨Cperforming. China has huge amount of state ¨Cowned enterprises that are under the government¡¯s protection for decades Although the government has been helping reform the state-owned enterprises, most of them are still suffer from low efficiency, outdated technology, backward style of management. Some managers are still not market-oriented. They retain the ways of thinking based on the planned economy that use absolute power to make decisions. Without the tariff and quota¡¯s protection, many of them will fall victim of market competition, which follows the principle of survival of the fittest.

The third challenge is how to keep the talents stay in national companies .As we know, most of the young people want to find a job in the foreign company because of the higher salary, better welfare, more arena for personal development, and high chances of self ¨Crealization. Many famous CEOs of the big companies know how to communicate with their employees, how to encourage and influence their employees, how to sale their ideas. However, Chinese CEOs are lacking of the experiences and concepts of how to be a real CEO. It is hard for them to keep their talent employees who are the foundation to the success of a company.

The Medieval Period, a time of Lords and Knights, pilgrimages to visit famous shrines, and the profound power held by the church. Due to this power, certain members of the clergy take their authority a little too far and abuse their rights. Power is not easily contended, and there are certain characteristics to be administered in order for one to be a member of the power-holding church. Because of this limitation, the clergy are identified as ideal or hypocritical. Having to demonstrate actions of humbleness and simplicity are two of the many characteristics required among one member of the clergy, the Pardoner. In the poem, The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer displays the Pardoners physical description and personality as apart of his hypocrisy and how in the Pardoners Tale he manages to create a story during his pilgrimage of how greed can lead to corruption and death.

With the use of physiognomy and physical description, the author creates the Pardoner to be more female than male. Being called effeminate gives him a perfidious or hypocritical characteristic. Also the personality of the Pardoner is to be humble and selfless, being a member of the clergy, but he is the exact opposite endowing him a deceptive classification. He also manages to stratagem others into believing in holy objects to profit off of them when they are all made up. An example of his deceptiveness is shown when Chaucer writes, There was no pardoner of equal grace for in his trunk he had a pillow case which he asserted was Our Ladys

Veil on one short day, in money down, he drew more than the parson in a month or two. It is obvious that the pardoners attention is not set on the responsibility to the church especially when he made monkeys of the priest and congregation, but rather to fulfill his greed.

During his journey to Canterbury, the Pardoner devises a story stating, greed is the root to all evil. To have him create this story and say this instinctively identifies him as a hypocrite because he demonstrates the same attitude as the characters in the story. When the author writes the story of the Pardoner telling about the three riders, he exemplifies their greed by stating, And here is a lot of gold that is to be divided equally among us three nevertheless, if I could shape things thus so that we share it out- the two of us. The greed among the three riders eventually lead them to their deaths. Ironically, the intention in this story is to establish the truth of moral, but the pardoner does not even follow his own advice.

The power given to the Pardoner is abused when he uses it for his own greedy implications and therefore confirms his hypocritical statement of greed being the root of all evil. By using the pilgrimage as the opportunity for the Pardoner to be shown allows the power of the church and the effect on the people come together.
